AWARDS FOR AGUA SWIM MEETS

1.  BEFORE THE SESSION,  check the meet information on the website to find
out about the medals and ribbons and any other awards.

For the MLK swim meet, there are medals (1st-3rd) and ribbons (4th-8th) for
the "A" Div., ribbons (1st-8th) for the "B" Div., Open Div. medals (1st-3rd),
and a high point award for each age group.  The website also said that there
may be team awards.  
(1st-3rd).  Awards are to be picked up by the coaches at the end of each
session. 
The "A" and "B" Divs. awards apply to ages 14 and under. The Open Div. awards
apply to ages 15 and older.  

2.  ON THE DAY OF THE SESSION, arrive at warmup time and go to the deck to
set up the awards table, next to the meet managers' table. Tables and chairs
should already be set up.  If not, check with the meet managers.    

       A.  Ask the meet managers for the pysche sheet to determine the number
of teams and the number of events. 

       B.  Go to the Aquatic Office on deck and ask for Paul Taylor or Sioban
to open the door or closet for the medals and ribbons.  The metals are gold,
silver, bronze.  The ribbons are different colors and are labelled 1st, 2nd,
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th.   

       C.  Use the big medals and put MLK's photo inside the medals. 

For the Thanksgiving Meet, use the special Thanksgiving Meet medals.  For all
other home meets, use the big medals and put Asphalt Green labels inside.

       D.  Determine how many TYPES of medals and ribbons to take out to the
table for the session.  The psyche sheets help you determine the NUMBER of
events and the NUMBER of teams.  

       E.  Take the metals and ribbons to the awards table.

       F.  Take a plastic bag for each team to the awards table. The plastic
bag is used to store the awards won by a team. 

       G.Take the small cardboard box with scotch tape, rubber bands, and
other office supplies to the awards table.             

       H.  Sort out the metals and ribbons.  Put the same type of metal in
separate piles.  Arrange the ribbons applicable for each event and secure
with a rubber band.

       I. Write the name of each team on a plastic bag. Put a tie or rubber
band around each team bag. 

       J.  Cover the medals, ribbons, and team bags with towels.  They will
get wet otherwise.  Get towels from meet managers.   

       K.  Go to the computer area to get the lists and labels for each
event.  As the session progresses, the results will come out on lists as well
as on labels. Check with the person who runs the computer after each 2 events
to get the lists and labels.  For every event, get 3 lists and 1 set of
labels. 

       L.  Give 2 lists to the meet managers, who will post 1 list on the
pool deck and 1 on the second floor.  Use the 3rd list to determine which
swimmer earned a type of medal and a type of ribbon.

       M.  Take each label and attach it to the applicable medal and ribbon. 
Each label will have the event number, place, swimmer's name, time, and team
name. 

       N.  Put the labelled medals and ribbons for each event into the
applicable team bag. 

       O.  Check the information on the website to find out when the coaches
pick up their awards.  The coaches will pick up their awards either at the
end of a session or meet. Give the AGUA team bag to Matt.  

             Arrange the team bags on the table for pickup by the coaches, if
the awards are to be picked up at the end of a session.  If at the end of a
meet, put the team bags along with the scotch tape, rubber bands in the
cardboard box and take the cardboard box and any left over metals or ribbons
back to the closet in the Aquatics Office.

       P.  Make sure there is nothing on the table before you leave.
