2024 AGUA Swim Team Try-Out Information

 

AGUA Tryout Dates: 

Tuesday, August 6 - Upper East Side (6-12)
Wednesday, August 7 - Upper East Side (6-12)
Thursday, August 8 - Battery Park City (6-10)

AGUA Tryout Details

​Swimmers aged 6-8:

  • Must be 7- or 8-years-old by January 1, 2025.
  • Should be able to complete a 25-yard butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.
  • Should be able to demonstrate a flip-turn.

Swimmers aged 9-10:

  • Must be 9- or 10-years-old by January 1, 2025.
  • Should be able to complete a 50-yard butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.
  • Should be able to demonstrate racing starts and flip-turns. 

Swimmers aged 11-12:

  • Must be 11- or 12-years old by January 1, 2025.
  • Must complete a 50-yard butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle with technical proficiency and speed. 
  • Must perform racing starts and flip turns. 
  • Race times that meet USA Swimming BB times are preferred. 
  • Roster spots in this age group are extremely limited.

AGUA Tryout Fast Facts

  • Swimmers must try out at the location where they intend to practice.
  • Swimmers should arrive with a swimsuit on and have a swim cap, goggles, and a towel.
  • How many days do swimmers have practice per week?
    • ​AG1 - 3 days per week
    • AG2 - 4 days per week
    • AG3 - 4-5 days per week
  • What is the meet requirement?
    • ​AG1 - 4 meets per year
    • AG2 - 5 meets per year
  • Is there a cost to tryout?
    • ​Tryouts cost $20 per swimmer
  • How long is the tryout session?
    • ​Each session lasts 20 minutes.
